Better Amazing Green bean casserole.... and a the Newest Member of the Family

Its a few days before the big feast, my cupboards are stocked with ingredients for the Corlis green bean casserole... Kinda like the original but different.

Its amazing, and very few people do not like it. Not anyone I know makes it like I do, sooo here goes

Amazing Green bean Casserole
2 cans french cut green beans
1 can cream of mushroom soup (you can use cream of celery if you have mushroom haters)
1 c of instant rice cooked
Cheez Whiz in jar
French's fried onions

Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Mix together soup, 1/2 cup of cheese whiz, and rice. Fold in cut green beans. Place in a casserole dish. Melt quarter cup of cheeze whiz in microwave pour evenly as possible over the top. Place French's onions over the top and bake in oven for 25 minutes.

This year I will be tripling the recipe for a group of 18.

This recipe is a family favorite, passed to many of them as we have been separated on too many occasions and are not always in the same state or country (my son spent last 4 years in NAVY based in Japan) for the holidays. Knowing they are enjoying a taste of home makes this momma feel better.

This year we WELCOME my brothers daughter Hadley Larkin, born last Friday November 18th, weighing 8 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long. She is beautiful and I can not wait to meet this sweet pea.

I am making her a pair of knit booties and hat, the booties are a first time project. In my effort to expand my knitting knowledge I decided I could make them with my own pattern..... one bootie done, now to repeat the process, I hope my notes on this project help me with making a matched bootie. Wish me luck.

Its getting COLD...

Brrr.... I am hanging on to memories of warm Summer days.  Trying really hard to push away the pain flashbacks of winter 2011.
It has been a quick month, how time flies, hard to believe 26 years ago today October 20th.  I was blessed by the arrival of my first child, a beautiful toe headed, blue eyed boy, weighing 7lb, 11 oz.  I think I should feel old, but not really. The dreams I had at 17 years old for him changed over the years. He is an amazing dad. I am keeping my fingers crossed he will find a good paying job in this economy.

I want to knit many things for Christmas gifts but I am finding it hard to get them done, I have no problems buying yarn for these new projects. The Yarn basket has grown in size. However my days are filled chasing my 20 month old grandson around.  I would much rather do that any way. He is growing and learning so much. I can't preoccupy myself with knitting as he has mastered the art of climbing and mess making.  On my day off l am vowing to make a knitted hammock, for a previous coworker and friend, who welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world last week. Congratulations to the Reha family.

Again blogging for me is new.... its going to take awhile to get into the swing of this.

Anniversary, Friends, Love and Traveling

On September 5th my husband and I celebrated our 24th Anniversary. Yes, we knew each other 4 months before we tied the knot. To my aunt who told me she would like her gift back if we were not together longer then 12 months.... I think you owe us a gift for each year! Greedy thoughtless relations crack me up. I love telling her how many years we have been married.

I also had my girls over for drinks and a Partylite candle party. This also gave me a chance to show the girls my anniversary gift. A Vintage Travel Trailer, 68 Forester 16RB, she is amazing. Big Plans to travel across the States next year to see my sister in Northern California.
We will be doing alot more camping with our grandson, as soon as BaPa (hubby) fixes the small amount of water damage to the backside of her. In our excitement to finally have her in our driveway, we decided to test her out and give sleeping on her fold out beds a whirl. Camping in the driveway, like at a campsite only different.
Good thing our neighbors totally expect us to do something like this. I can be kind of scary in the mornings upon waking up. A trip outside the camper to the restroom inside I did not hear anyone scream in fright.
We ended our week attending a dear friends wedding in Valley, NE. Congratulations Jim and Mary! Loved the football theme, great ceremony lots of food and friends new and old. Mary's daughter did all the flowers and placed roses hanging from trees, with bendy jewelry wire and ribbons. It was beautiful.

More to come, I have a feeling the blog is going to be a slow process until I get into the habit of writing a couple of days a week. Enjoy fall, winter cold will be here before we know it.
